Lydia is napping the last nap that she will nap in this house. I'm a wee bit sentimental right now, can you tell?

This birthday ranks up there with the best ones I can remember. We worked together as a family to get the last boxes packed, sold Joey's car, went for a spur-of-the-moment fun trip to the city, drove home through a gentle spring rain, and finished it up with some "How It's Made" with the boys. I loved being with my family today. They are the best gifts ever.

We took a little walk to OUR house! Eeeek!

Her job is to personally inspect every cupboard to make sure I have, indeed, packed everything. She's also really good at distracting me from packing.

I'm always especially fond of the moments when these two get along beautifully. And, for the record, Benjamin found Waldo.

Surprise afternoon visits from Grandpa are definitely a favourite, despite what Lydia's pensive expression my indicate.

Waking up is very, very hard work.

In the absence of toys, kids will make their own fun. What a great lesson for us all.

I'd like to say that he was laughing at a really good joke, but... he was actually being shot with a Nerf dart. *gasp*

There's nothing like being in possession of a daddy's love.

(The next couple of weeks might see some photos from earlier days. We're moving soon, and life is a wee bit crazy right now. Apologies.)

She's just too much. And this is her angry face (it's kind of adorable).

I sure hope they will be on their best behaviour for the next two weeks, and that they will be ok with all of their toys getting packed up, because once this month is through we will have MOVED to a new home! I'm a little sad about leaving this house that I love so much (our very first owned-home!), but I'm mostly excited when I think of all the space we're gaining. Plus: four bedrooms. Two full bathrooms. A garage. A garden. And raspberry bushes.

I'm an advocate for room sharing, and I think they are, too.

I can hardly believe that I'm typing this, but we went for a spring walk today. With proper puddles. And light jackets. With geese honking in the background. On the Canadian prairies. In March. Thank you, Jesus.

My little love bug, before she developed a nasty fever. It doesn't matter how small the illness - it always causes me to fear to some degree. I am always reminded how frail we are, and how I'm not in control. I'm grateful I know who is.

Three years old. It's such a funny age. I feel like he is becoming so wise, but I also feel like he's still just a babe. He can be volatile, but he's also incredibly thoughtful and particular. So far, he's the only one of my children that actually craves alone time.  I cant stop studying him, his shiny golden curls, and his pudgy cheeks.

It can be difficult to occupy this little girlie all morning long. Transitioning to one nap instead of two a day is no joke! Today's solution: a blanket spread out on the floor. Children can be so satisfied with simple things if you don't overcomplicate their lives.

It's that time of the year: time to wear winter gear outside and get it absolutely soaking wet playing in puddles. Spring, I heart you.

Grandma and Grandpa S. came to visit, and the better part of the afternoon was spent crafting, throwing, and shooting down paper airplanes.

Prior to this moment: Lydia got into a bag of disposable razors. After this moment: I nearly hid and ate a bag of marshmallows. Y'all. Real life is hard.

A tantrum from Benjamin (and the related time-out) are so commonplace in this household that I couldn't possibly keep it from this project, now could I?

Five years ago today, I beheld his sweet face for the first time and thought that it was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen. I'm still of that opinion, although I will keep the word "beautiful" to myself, for his sake.
